Our Team

Sherri Beattie, B.A., B. J., M.J., J.D.

Sherri has a general practice in areas including wills and estates, real property, corporate and criminal law. She has successfully argued cases in the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, and the Court of Appeal in Ontario.

 

Sherri’s personal and family roots run deep in the Ottawa Valley. She is a proud graduate of Renfrew Collegiate Institute. Sherri sits on the Board of Directors of the Renfrew County Legal Clinic which provides legal services to low-income residents of Renfrew County. She is a former board member of the Renfrew County Law Association and sits on the Board of Trustees for the Renfrew Presbyterian Church.

 

Sherri holds a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College, University of Toronto with a combined specialist in English and History and a major in Political Science, a Bachelor of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) specializing in broadcasting, Master of Journalism from Carleton University and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. From Carleton she was the recipient of the Gordon Sinclair Fellowship in Journalism and spent a year studying at the Université Stendhal in Grenoble, France.

 

After graduating from Osgoode Hall, Sherri articled in Toronto at Torkin Manes LLP and practiced criminal law at Greenspan Partners.

 

Sherri taught media law at Carleton University for seven years in the School of Journalism both in its undergraduate and graduate programs.

 

Prior to her career in law, Sherri worked as a journalist in broadcasting, as a free-lance producer for “Pamela Wallin Live,” a reporter for CTV News in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and as a reporter and anchor for CKWS Television in Kingston, Ontario.

 

Sherri is an avid traveller, cook, gardener and reader.

Lauren Davidson, B.F.A., J.D.

Lauren Davidson practices Family Law, Wills and Estates matters, and Real Estate.

 

Lauren received her B.F.A. from York University in 2005, and graduated from law school at Queen’s University in 2008. She was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2009.

 

Lauren provides coaching to clients experiencing issues with past or current partners, and both out-of-court and in-court legal representation. She is an experienced lawyer with a compassionate and results-oriented approach. Lauren assists clients with financial disclosure, separation agreements, preparation of court documents, and litigation strategy. She also prepares marriage or cohabitation agreements, and Wills and Powers of Attorney.

 

Lauren is a panel member of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, and since 2018 has advocated for children involved in the Family Court and Child Protection systems.

 

Anyone involved with a Children’s Aid Society, or who is considering getting married, cohabiting, or placing a partner on title to a property, should speak with a Family Law Lawyer.

Carol Varrin

Law clerk, Carol Varrin is a vital part of the firm with extensive experience. For more than 40 years she has provided our clients with professional and reliable assistance in a wide range of legal areas. Her depth of experience extends to wills, estate administration, estate planning, family and corporate law. From assisting clients with incorporations to guiding them through estate planning, she provides attentive, knowledgeable support every step of the way.​

Beyond the law, Carol is a devoted grandmother, mother and avid reader.   

Tyler McWhirter

Law clerk, Tyler McWhirter delivers skillful service to clients helping guide them in estates and wills, estate planning and administration. Tyler also provides assistance to organizations and institutional clients that the firm serves. Tyler is a proud graduate of the Law Clerk Program and Paralegal Program at Algonquin College.

Beyond the law, he is a passionate angler, keen historian and ever optimistic Sens fan. 

Colleen Schlievert

Colleen Schlievert is our senior real estate clerk. With almost 40 years of experience professionally assisting clients in property matters from the routine to the most complex. Colleen works with clients to deliver seamless transactions. Colleen never loses focus on who and what is most important - our clients.

Beyond the law, Colleen loves spending time with her grandchildren and in the summer, time at the lake.

Abagail Belland

Abagail Belland is our newest real estate clerk assisting clients in a variety of property transactions. She has successfully completed the real estate and estates courses with the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario. Abagail  also holds a Bachelor of Arts in criminology and criminal justice from Carleton University. She assists with criminal law matters in the firm.

Beyond the law, Abagail dotes on "Socks" her beloved Border Collie, and enjoys movies and board games with her friends. 

Zoë MacMaster

​Zoë MacMaster is our office manager and bookkeeper. For clients, she is the first point of contact offering everyone a warm welcome and friendly smile. What our clients may not know is that she is our own resident Renaissance woman. Zoë does everything from skillfully managing our books and finances to creating and maintaining our website to beautifully greening our office with her passion for plants. Zoë keeps every aspect of our office running smoothly so that everyone else at MSP&B can focus on what is most important – our clients.

 

Beyond the law, Zoë is an ardent gardener, devoted Mom, spirited traveller and curious reader.
